SGS is proud to have a team of expert seminar leaders who are constantly providing continuing education to the dental community. SGS instructors come from a variety of dental and medical backgrounds and together share a goal of educating more practitioners on the protocols, processes and technology needed to offer life saving therapy to more patients.

Dr. Dan Tache
A native of Salem, MA, Dr. Tache’ has been practicing dentistry since 1975. He received his undergraduate degree from St. Anselm’s College in Manchester, NH, and his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1974. Dr. Tache began lecturing for SGS in 2006 and is currently serving as President of the Wisconsin Sleep Society.

Dr. Michael Gelb
Dr. Michael L. Gelb is an innovator in sleep apnea, painful TMJ disorders, and other head and neck pain conditions. Dr. Gelb has studied breathing related sleep disorders (BRSD), specializing in how they relate to fatigue, focus and pain, and the effects all of these can have on a person’s life. Dr. Gelb received his D.D.S. degree from Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery in 1982, and his M.S. degree from SUNY at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine.

Dr. JC Goodwin
J.C. Goodwin, DMD, DACSDD, is a general dentist with over 27 years of clinical experience in both public health and private practice. His post-graduate training has included dental laser surgery, comprehensive dental rehabilitation, CEREC, sleep disorders including apnea management, as well as TMD and facial pain management. He is a member of the ADA, the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine and the Academy of Clinical Sleep Disorders Disciplines. He holds a diplomate credential in that organization (DACSDD). Dr Goodwin owns a patent on the ‘Trim-EZE’ dental composite trimmer. He created the Sleep Effect Center for Apnea Management in 2009 and has recently become affiliated with Sleep Synergies, Inc. His practice is now limited to providing dental sleep medicine services

Dr. Marty Lipsey
Dr. Marty Lipsey received his Specialty Certificate in Endodontics and a Master of Science degree from Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. He has been an innovator, educator and leader in the field of Endodontics for over 25 years. Throughout and after his dental studies, Dr. Lipsey became an active member of the International Association of Dental Students. Over a period of more than 20 years, Dr. Lipsey attended international meetings of the I.A.D.S. where he both lectured and studied.

Mr. John Nadeau
SGS Vice President John Nadeau has been actively involved in the dental sleep medicine community since 2002. He has worked with several hundred dentists in the field and helped many of them get started with sleep in their own practices. An expert on airway acoustic imaging and home sleep testing John authored the SGS protocol manual detailing the steps-by-step process involved in taking a patient from initial screening through diagnosis, treatment and follow-up.

Dr. Mark Levy
Dr. Mark Levy is a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Dentistry has been practicing dentistry in Columbus for almost 30 years. Dr. Levy has continued his education at the world renowned Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies. He was asked to return as a Clinical Instructor at LVI, teaching dentists from across the United States, Canada, Australia and Europe the advanced techniques required for modern, aesthetic dentistry.

Dr. Maurice Salama
Dr. Maurice Salama completed his undergraduate studies at the State University of New York at Binghamton in 1985, where he received his BS in Biology. Dr. Salama is currently on the faculties of the University of Pennsylvania and the Medical College of Georgia as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Periodontics. The dual nature of his specialty training makes Dr. Salama a highly sought-after lecturer nationally and internationally.

Dr. Dawne Slabach
Dr. Dawne Slabach is committed to providing compassionate care to all patients. Her passion for TMJ disorders, sleep-disordered breathing and orthodontics all stem from her own experiences with all three areas of care. Dr. Slabach received her B.S. in Biochemistry from Ohio State University in 1984 and her D.D.S. from Ohio State University in 1988. She is also a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine and the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain.

Dr. Steven Lanham
Dr. Steven Lanham was born and raised in Pratt, WV. He graduated from West Virginia Tech and then received his doctorate of dental surgery from West Virginia University School of Dentistry in 1982. Dr. Lanham then served a three year residency for the United States Navy in Paris Island, SC. In 1985, he moved to Orangeburg and started practice. After 25 years in Orangeburg, Dr. Lanham relocated here in Columbia at the South Carolina Dental Center.

Dr. Michael Hnat
Dr. Michael Hnat is a 1979 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine and has been in private practice for over thirty years. In addition to general dental procedures, Dr. Hnat dedicates a regular part of his clinical practice to oral appliance therapy and use of a Dental Laser. He has received advanced training and holds certifications for the use of specialty oral appliances-for snoring/sleep apnea and tension and migraine headaches, a Diode Laser – for soft tissue dental procedures, and mini-implants – for denture and oral appliance stabilization

Dr. Barry Freydberg
Dr. Barry Freydberg, a 1968 graduate of the University Of Illinois College Of Dentistry is a full-time practicing dentist. He was named “Alumni of the Year” in 2004.He is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, a Fellow of the American College of Dentists and a Fellow of the International Academy for Dental-Facial Esthetics. He is a leading speaker on conservative “Prepless” esthetic dentistry and is considered a pioneer in raising dentists’ awareness of the ever-growing link between high technology and practice and clinical management. And, as digital technology has matured, he also focuses on “Techsthetics”, the link between technology and diagnosing, marketing and providing better esthetic dentistry.
